Small Animal Surgery — What to Expect

All surgeries take place in the morning, which allows your pet to rest and recover

in the afternoon. You will be called in the afternoon and given a status update

on how the surgery went, how your pet is doing, and when you can pick up your pet.

If your animal is having surgery that requires an overnight stay, such as spay, neuter,

and abdominal or orthopedic surgery, we will call you after the procedure is done,

as well as make a follow-up call to your home within 3 days after surgery.

Appointment Reminder and Preanesthetic Bloodwork(PDF): If your pet is scheduled for

anesthesia and surgery, we strongly recommend a blood profile to ensure your pet is in a low

risk category prior to anesthetic. When you make your appointment, the receptionist will send you
this paperwork in the mail to view and decide which blookwork-up best fits your pet.
